Diving

If you are a certified diver, all you have to do is just get to the Maldives with proof certification and discover the miracle of nature.

All diving schools offer courses for the novice as well as for the more experienced diver, and they all have qualified instructors attending to your needs providing courses ranging from Open Water Diver to Diving Instructor level.

All the resort islands have a diving school and it is only a short barefoot walk from your bungalows. The dive schools are well equipped to meet the divers' needs and have their own boats to venture to different dive sites.

You can bring your own equipment or rent it from the school. You could also take a diving cruise to explore this extraordinary archipelago. A live-aboard is more adventurous and presents more opportunities to discover new dive sites that may be inaccessible from the resorts.

Should you wish to become a certified diver while you are on holiday, the Maldives with its shallow lagoons present ideal conditions for beginners.

Temperature & Visibility

The conditions for diving are ideal in the Maldives where the annual average water temperature is 28 degrees Celsius. Although it is possible to dive with swimwear, you may require a 3-millimetre neoprene wetsuit as a thermal protection. With visibility reaching up to 30 metres, you can admire the immense underwater landscapes without restrictions in almost every dive.

Safety & Insurance

Recreational diving in the Maldives has a depth limit of 30 metres. You do not need to go deeper as you can enjoy all the riches of the coral reef within 30 metres. All dive operators in the Maldives strictly adhere to international diving standards. Although there are well equipped clinics and decompression chambers in the Maldives, prevention is always the best medicine.

Always take the safety regulations seriously and dive with responsibility to yourself, your buddy, and to the environment. If you are not sure that your present insurance covers you for diving related accidents, please check whether it does.
